About us

We are a very small family business with the devotion of the original well diggers. We are trying to battle the modern world and reinstate as many old hand dug wells as we can.

We have traced our ancestors as far back as 1795 (so far) and have traced working with wells back to 1821 when a lad aged 26 was a Well Sinker.  This lad was our 3rd Great Grand Father.

From then there has been an entire family working in some form or another around wells. Even a Wellwright that would make all the parts to lift the buckets up using a windlass and a Wellmaster that would look after a village or town well.  All that information, little hints and tips are still being used today, no information have been lost, it has all been passed down to this generation and is employed in every job and hand dug water well restoration or dig that we undertake.

Restoring a well is more then just a job, it is a way of doing our bit to save our water heritage. For many years we have been trying to find as much out about wells as we possibly can, Unfortunately the well diggers of the day did not write any books. Now I am not sure if that was mainly because they could not write but I expect it was because they were soo busy. Luckily we have the knowledge and intend to keep it alive for as long as possible.
