Wind Pump Restoration
Today we start work on a 37 Type Climax wind pump. We will be reinforcing its feet, changing some rotten supports, general maintenance such as changing the oil in the Climax oil bath gearbox, renewing shafts, makings new leather gaskets for the well pump, restoring and Cleaning the well to create a working wind pump
Clearing, Making Safe & Rebuilding Chalk & Flint Well
We attended the site to find a concrete slab and a small hole. With pearing into the small hole we were a little concerned to find half the floor surrounding the area had been undermined and was no longer supporting anything. This included a corner of the building. First thing was to remove the concrete
Glass top and site visits
Glass well top gone on today along with two site visits done. One lovely old hand pump in need of restoration and a disused well wanting to be used within the house for all water usage. Heading home now after a long but successful day.
Breaking open a concrete well cap
Finally got through the foot thick concrete which had been sat on top of the well for many years. It was great to see the wood still in place and the rsj’s looking in good shape. The well is flint lined and and is almost 40 meters deep. It looks in fantastic condition.
Before and after hidden hand dug brick well
Hidden for more then 50 years this hand dug brick lined well was hidden under a concrete slab for many years. We finally opened it up last week and the client is extremely happy with this very beautiful well. It is 16 meters deep so has plenty of water in it. here is some before
Well Cap Ready To Be Removed
Today will be the unveiling of a hand dug water well that has been capped for over 60 years.
Uncovering Flint Lined Water Well
Today we will reveal a well that has laid hidden for many years and covered with concrete. The concrete is almost 1 foot thick. The well is flint lined and 40 meters deep. We will be doing a video inspection once we have uncovered the well. Once all is complete we will be installing water
