A well clean today turned into two

We initially set out to give the well a simple clean and health check before installing a pump system for irrigation and water the garden.

We got to the bottom of the well to clean it but on standing / digging we found it was deeper then expected and had more then just silt build it, it had been partially filled with builders rubble.

We filled many wheelbarrows but had not made it to the bottom before the end of the day so we will return again tomorrow to complete.

We believe the well to date back before 1765 and would certainly have been there before the house was built which is a 16th century thatched cottage.
