Uncovering An Concrete Capped Water Well

We opened up a hand dug water well yesterday that has not seen the light of day for many years. It was in the middle of a driveway and was covered by a tree and bushes.

The concrete cap was reinforced with just about everything and anything that was metal. We found bbq grills, half a gate, drain covers and odd bits of metal including numerous lengths of old pipes.

Today we will go down into the well, remove the old hand pump body for restoration, removed the old hand pump rods for restoration and clean the well ready for a the restored hand pump and also a new electric well pump.
