There is many reasons for you to want or need a hand dug well survey and so we have designed a few different types for you below. With many types of property surveys, one that really has been totally forgotten about is a well survey. When nearly every other property had a well for drinking and water usage it is a surprise that well surveys are not as popular as they should be. We are always having enquiries where people have found a well on a property they have just purchased and it was not picked up in any other survey. Every survey will come with our recommendations for future use or safety requirements as standard but there is a few tiers of surveys which you will find helpful below.



1 – Initial assessment report to ascertain if a property could have a well includes the following:
Check of historical records, Check of local town maps, Check of local county maps, check of our family records, check of our family books and complete with a basic email report of findings with pictures and maps where possible if the well was recorded in any manner. This is ideal if you want to minimise costs without a site visit and will enable future assessment if records are found.
2 – A first standard survey which is a single person survey but a physical well must be present to be surveyed. It includes the following:
All of above initial assessment items plus Measurement of Depth, Measurement of Width, Measurement of water depth, Measurement of top for quotes on numerous types of covers such as walk on glass or grills, Numerous pictures, Distance from building, Location plotted on a map, Volume of water, If the well is located outside a drone shot, Basic video if water is clear, Well clean charged at first day charge if you decide to go ahead later on, Water test charged with a £30 saving if taken with a standard survey, Recommendations and all in a basic written report including structural info if we are able to assess.
3 – Full survey of the well with 2 persons down to 10 meters but a physical well must be present. It includes the following:
All of above standard survey items, 2 persons with all safety equipment, Water pumped out of the well, Flow rate conducted, Person to descend the well and carry out structural checks of the well walls, Pictures taken inside, In depth report, Well clean charged at the lower additional day charge if you decide to go ahead later on, Water test charged with a £60 saving if taken with a full survey, Video of entire well and depth down to 10m.
4 – Full survey of the well with 2 persons down to 20 meters but a physical well must be present. It includes the following:
All of above survey items, Video of entire well and depth down to 20m.
